What a time in the Gorge!
I've really enjoyed all the images posted here from the gorge lately and they have made me anxious to get out there, so I did last weekend. It was the first time I have had the chance to really explore out there with my camera during this time of year. There are so many overwhelming opportunities and different areas that it was hard to choose where to go. I spent most of my time around the Eagle Creek area. Any favorite areas that you guys recommend? I think I'll try and get back there this weekend. This image is of a side creek off the Eagle Creek Trail. Thanks for looking and commenting!

Sweet little scene.. you've already been to my favorite area.. agree that there is so many... Have you thought about Elowah or Wahclella falls? I'm going to try to get up there somewhere myself, or over in WA.

Thanks for the suggestions Ned, I'd like to check out both of those. I might be camping somewhere along the Oneonta trail this weekend or possibly the PCT? It seems like many of you are getting out to the Gorge quite a bit so I'll keep an eye out for any photographers.

Beautiful scene, Will! I thought I'd post a heads-up to anyone planning trips in the western Gorge in the next couple of weeks that the thunderstorms on Saturday night devastated the wildflowers and new foliage along the upper sections of Multnomah and Wahkeena creeks. This photo shows the story: a favorite larkspur patch that should have been in bloom, but instead was literally mowed down as if a lawnmower had come through. The blossoms are lost for the season, but it will also take a few weeks for the foliage to recover and re-grow. The bracken ferns were quite torn up in both canyons, making shots like Will's tough to find.

There's also a new log over Dutchman Falls that is going to be there for awhile, joining the company at Punchbowl, Middle Oneonta and Upper McCord Creek falls... :frown:

Very nice scene, Will. The foreground 2/3 is my favorite part, especially the big boulder with the fern. Now, that's more a comment on my personal style than a critique of your photo. You captured the lovely lush greens very well. Mossy rocks and ferns and a stream– PNW yummy stuff.
