What a trip we had to the Oregon Coast this month! I am just now started to process all the images. It was incredible. Thank you all for the tips/suggestions on places to shoot.

This image is from one of my favorite sections of the coast after driving from Seaside to Brookings. The Lupine were very profuse which was amazing for me. I have never seen anything like it.

I am not sure of the location though. Is anyone familiar with this section of the coast. It was shot somewhere between Cape Blanco and Cape Sebastian. I am thinking it is probably Humbug Mtn. SP, but not really sure. These are all roadside compositions.

Here are a few more larger ones of it:

Nice set of images Derek. My favorite is the one you posted. Stronger compositional elements in my opinion. I enjoy the sweeping lines and strong foreground.

Yes, that's Humbug Mountain in the upper left on your post.

Thanks Will,

That is one my personal favorites of our trip because of the power and beauty I experienced there. The lupine were growing like crazy up and down the cliffs. And the large wave rolling in and around the rocks were very cool to watch. That image also looks 'much' better in the larger version here:

Thanks Greg for confirming that this is Humbug Mtn. What an awesome location. From that point south the coast went great to simply amazing. Samuel Boardman SP was probably the highlight in terms of raw beauty.

Great shot. The area around Humbug Mountain is one of my favorites. I enjoy the seaside town of Port Orford just north of there. The Oregon Coast is a national treasure, that's for sure.

Glad you got down as far as Boardman SP, Derek -- that's definitely a highlight for photographers. Did you have a chance to explore Cape Blanco?

Tom,

We did visit Cape Blanco and the lighthouse. It is a pretty amazing and windy spot. Here are a couple of shots of it:

Catherine, we actually hung out in Port Orford for a while talking with a local surfer. It was a really nice morning there as well:

Looks like the recent restoration left the lighthouse looking good... I plan to spend a week down that way in June, and one in August...

Cape Blanco is a great looking lighthouse for sure. But I was wondering about other compositional opportunities of it possibly from a distance with more of the coast in the image.

That is one of the reasons I liked Heceta Head and Yaquina Head more - at least from my limited time with them. They seem to offer a lot more options/angles. I shot both of these from at least 3-4 different locations. I'll post some of those once I process them.

Nice image, Derek. I like the arrangement of the lupines.
