I checked out a new area today with a hide on a pond, The kingfishers are nesting there and they have a camera near the nest and a TV in the hide so you can see them come and go which is cool,The Kingfisher only landed once on the branch near the hide but its a good start-Dont you just love it when a reed blows infront of the subject just as you press the button
Very nice capture, how very annoying about that reed, poor you.. Shame the bird ringers have got to him as well. Still a very nice image though and one I'd like to have had.. Look like he's been after the dragons as well..
What a nice capture the set up sounds almost ideal. Can I ask a question, do you tend to go out with a species in mind that your set up for or just for whatever comes along? I have a good reason to ask although it may be a dumb question. I know the fox cubs are a one off.
Hi Barry
I do tend to go out with the purpose of getting a certain species, I normally try to work on a project-like the fox cubs and spend a lot of time researching areas and then spend alot of time getting the shots that i want, obviously if something else comes along then great, I have spent the last 2 springs shooting Great Crested Grebes as i didnt get all the shots that i wanted in the first year-every year i like to spend time with fox cubs, But since i have been here projects have included fox, badger, grebe,Swan, ibex and chamois, I find it improves my photography to give one species alot of time-you get to know and understand the animal
Yep, shame about the reed, but with that set-up it sounds like you will have plenty more chances. Just one thought, maybe a vertical format would give more impact and lose the OOF branch on the right-hand edge? Look forward to seeing more.
Yes all been said - very nice. At least its only one ring. Some of the stuff around here have 2 on each leg ! Don't disturb the poor little things from 50 yards away with a camera, but stick a few rings on and its OK.

Thant's a shame about the reed and ring, but he looks handsome Dave with the water droplets on his chest

Always like to see Kingfishers, shame about the reed but based on your Fox cubs I'm sure it wont be your last.
