Again, for the sake of the record, I should point out that these Boar are confined to a large area of Caledonia Forest as part of a research project. They are not truly wild (in that they are confined) but they are not tame and are wary but 'comfortable' with a small amount of human presence (Foresters etc) providing you don't imped their behaviour. They roam freely within that area and largely feed themselves.
On the previous visit I had spend over half a day looking for the male with no luck, this time he found us (must be Dave's aftershave ) which made the job a whole lot easier with no need for remote triggering and hours of tramping dead wood bog; swings and roundabouts.
Taken at last light as the sun set behind the hills about 21.30, a bedtime snack of grass and shoots.
Unfortunately this is probably the last visit as within a matter of weeks they are for the pork chop as the project (which has been running for about 4 years) finished last October.

Barry, flash - no, The catchlight in the eye is the setting sun which would have been level with us. We had gone up the previous evening to collect the keys to the main forest track and subsequent gates and couldn't resist a small peek
I don't think it comes much better than this Tom to be honest - the head-down pose has given you just the right DoF, the lighting has done wonders for the skin and hair textures, the eye contact is great and the catch light is the icing on the cake.
I wish you'd had the 5 or 6 with you and got a frame-buster close-up of that eye area, though judging by the techs the exposure might have been a bit problematic
Very nice, That eye just pop out of the picture. . At least you did not have to tape your lens to a tree and use your remote control this time!!
Best wishes

Could see this being used as a big board display on a stand at a country fair or in the lobby of SNH Hq. A real quality shot that engages well with the viewer.
