I am curious what the snow status is around the state. Here in Anchorage, it's all gone, but the plants are about two weeks late (along with many of the birds). The Chugach Mountains still have plenty of snow, especially the north facing aspects. I know the coast has a ton of snow still. So if you have a chance, let us know how the summer is coming along in your neck of the woods.

All gone here in Wasilla. I was down in Seward this past weekend and the snow is definitely dwindling through Turnagain Pass.
Plants and birds are definitely late down here in Seward as well. I was told the road to Exit Glacier was still closed on Tuesday, although it was finally open all the way to the parking lot yesterday, must have just opened; that is really late. Still lots of snow out there.
Here in Valdez there is still spots of snow on the ground and lots on the mountains. A couple years ago I was taking macros of flowers on Thompson Pass. This year there the pass is still covered with snow and only a few bare spots where the wind swept most of the snow away during the winter. We're very close to a full month late this year. If this keeps up the glaciers will be growing again soon!
Got snowed on 3 days in the last 7 here in Denali. Wonder Lake ice JUST finished melting this morning. Dwarf Birch is just now starting to bud out and a few of the first little flowers are popping out.
Very odd spring. Yakutat Bay and the Yakutat Forelands were essentially snow free last week. Situk Lake was ice-free. Fairbanks is in early summer, with the chokecherry trees blooming. The Western Wood Peewee is signing down the street, and it's usually among the last migrants to arrive.

7 repliesAs of last week, parts of Aialik Bay in Kenai Fjords still had 5 feet of snow on the ground!
