Now THIS is what an avain shot is supposed to look like! Beautiful in every respect Brad. What was your set up for this shot? Blind / Distance to subject / shooting techs?
Your work continues to impress! Keep up the good work.
Thanks guys, I was kinda in a hurry this morning when I posted this.
Again, at S.C. Hilton Head Island. A friend invited me to one of the Plantations where he said the Egrets and Herons come in to roost every night. This was an amazing area, actually in a park with houses right across the street. These birds where on the other side of a small pond approx 20 yards away, and some on the park side you could walk up slooooowly and get within 5 yards. It was nesting time and lots were on the nest.
I was using my 70-300 lens which is actually a very inexpensive lens like around $200, but I seem to get some really good shots with it. I was at 300mm f/5.6, no fillter, at around 20 yrds. away. Tripod, mirror lock and remote release Of Course!
I just had really good luck that evening. The sun was going down and everything was very calm. It has almost no post processing done, just some usm. I just happen to capture it well. Yipeee!
Here's what I was talking about this being a spectacular sight. Egrets, Egrets, and more Egrets. With the occasional Heron and some others that I'm not sure what they are yet.
I will try to get some other cool shots posted soon.
Holy smokes thats alot of egrets. Looks like you had plenty to choose from. A great shot Brad very sharp, and love the clean background, using the tripod really helps. What ever happened to the post of the beach sunset that was a beauty also?
