Had a really nice day of photography today with Phil Hurst. We managed to fit in about 6 species of Orchids, Adder, Foxgloves & the odd damselfly.
We wasn't 100% sure about the ID of this one but from my books I can see that it is in fact a Large red and not a Small red as the Male Small reds have a completely red abdomen. It was timely that after a few shots, a small spider came up its web just under the damselfly and then eventually pushed it off the stem.. Quite funny to watch and I thought I'd share the moment, just before it happened, with you all..
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'd like to thank Phil for his company and I look forward to seeing one or two Adder postings from him.
All the best,
Brett.

A great damselfly image here. That little spider is a big bonus and really adds interest. My only thought is that the slightest puff of fill-in flash would have really enhanced the colours and lifted the shadows. Still a stunner!
