On our last afternoon at the coast in Seal Rock it was raining hard with strong winds. Then I saw slight break in the clouds before sunset and got that crazy feeling in my gut - Get in the car and go to Heceta Head Now! It was a slow race to get there with road construction and small town speed limits, but well worth the drive. The sun was breaking thru the clouds over the water like the hand of God reaching down from the sky. The lighting was extremely harsh with a wide dynamic range. So every shot was a blend.

Shooting straight into the sun was the toughest shot, but most incredible sight to witness:

After the sun hid behind the clouds:

It was an awesome farewell to an amazing first tour of the Oregon coast. I look forward to heading back some day!

Cool that you got to spend some time on the southern coast, Derek - definitely less traveled, and some really fine scenery. Nice Heceta shots!

Tom, while the entire coast was beautiful I would have to say the southern portion was the highlight. From Bandon to Brookings was just phenomenal.

I will post some more stuff I shot from there soon as I just finished up processing all my coastal images.
