Wet Mountain Consolation
Otherwise known as: "I drive 10 miles down a washboard road only to find the Greenhorn Rd closed, ruining my plan to shoot Greenhorn at sunset" So, i quickly improvise by doing some xcountry treking, looking for decent comps. Found this beaver pond.

I kinda liked this grassy hillside with small stand of aspen. Thanks for looking!

Nice recovery, Stan! You must have been moving faster than the speed of light! Both are nice, but the first has more of that magical time of say feel.

They closed that road when they designated Greenhorn a wilderness area. But like Dave said, nice save.

I think the comp in the 2nd one is fantastic, Stan. The sharpness is amazing. Any secret to that, or is this just the way the 5D is? Nice work!

What Jack said, the clarity is amazing!

Stan, I'll trade my planned shots for your improvised ones any time. Great captures! :toast: :toast:

Beautiful beaver pond and like the others said, the clarity is wonderful, on both.

Both are nice. I think you did a very nice job on the second. good work!

both are nice, but my preference is with numero uno, but that's because of the water in the foreground

I prefer the water too, got my feet a bit muddy for that. Paul, the clarity is partly due to my L lens (more so than the 5D), partly due to using Marc A's sharpening technique, which is the best thing for web images I think.

I like the hillside shot best. Nice job.
