When I first went up in 2000, I stayed in a lovely little B&B called `Rowena`, which is on the main street about ten minutes` walk from the harbour. Proprieter Mrs. Hodgson even gave my mate and I a lift to Alnwick and provided us with free bacon sarnies for the day when our boat trip to the Farnes was cancelled. Recommended!
Plenty of other small B&Bs which are probably just as good.
If you don`t mind spending a bit more, you could also try the Bamburgh Castle Hotel, which overlooks the harbour, about a minute`s walk from the quay. For the price, I thought the rooms were a bit poky, though, and ours smelled a bit!
The all-day trip on the `Glad Tidings` is the best one for photographers, as I recall.
Just thinking about it is making me want to head back up.
Just make sure you wear a hat to ward off tern attacks on Inner Farne!
Jeremy is there with the good info, "Rowena" is good I've stayed there too, but I never left a funny smell in the room at the other place!
Billy Sheil is the man to see, and "Glad Tidings" full day trip is the best one. More info via the link. http://www.farne-islands.com/boat-trips/index.htm
Other than the Islands, the whole area has lots to offer the photographer, wildlife and Sea/Landscape subjects galore, and great Fish and Chips at the Neptune fish bar too!
I've done the "Tidings " one mant(many)times. (can't stand people that cannot spell ) and it's the one to be on. The fish and chips are great in the town too.
Trouble is you will end up with pics like a million others have got. Be adventureous (?) but don't fall off !! Some good nature reserves in the area too. We went on up to Bass rock in the old days but I,m not sure if it's still landable.

John, Bass Rock landing trips are now run by the Scottish Seabird Centre. I landed a couple of times in the early 2000s, courtesy of good old Fred Marr.
