Anvil Cloud
Did anybody see the massive anvil cloud just east of Boulder tonight?

We were having dinner on our deck, watching this thing churning and building in Arvada; and I told my wife "we gotta go"!

We made pretty good time getting to the Doudy Draw TH area along 93 and I worked quickly to compose with the ponderosas for scale. I used both a 2 and 3 stop ND grad (together) to hold some detail in the FG.

Hi Dave,

Yes, that was right over my house. Very Awesome!! Looks like you captured it well.

Great powerful feeling. I love the color in the cloud. I watched some similar buildups over the sedalia area from my son's baseball game tonight. It would light up orange from the lightning. I bet this one was fun to watch (not be in).

Awesome Dave! I sat out in my backyard in Westminster for about a half hour shooting that too! Amazing the speed that this thing churned! Great capture!

Nice. I couldn't really see that, since it was right over my house. That crazy cloud was accompanied by some serious hail.

Beautiful, Dave! Those storms are still going crazy right now. Earlier Burlington got softball sized hail from them. More action tomorrow, but it's Wednesday that im really targeting.

I was watching this from Lyons. I couldn't really find a good comp, but was hoping someone else would. Nice shot!

I saw this very cloud on my way to work last night and was kicking myself (again) for not winning the lottery so I wouldn't have to work. Nice work, Dave!

Awesome! The foreground works great for the shot, and the colors on the cloud are amazing. You don't see clouds like this on the western slope!

Very cool weather shot and good work with the grads. Could you send some of that weather out to the southwest part of the state?!?

My wife and I were out getting ice cream when I saw this sucker...That was just amazing--the lighting was perfect to watch the entire structure of the cloud expand and churn...You rarely get to see that kind of action inside of a cloud. Nice capture.

Watched it from our place in Arvada. Glad someone got some pics of it.

Impressive shot, Dave. Makes one want to jump in a small Cessna and fly through that thing for some closeups, although upon landing one may get whisked away to the State Mental Hospital, assuming one survives.

Great shot Dave! :toast: My wife and I were watching it too while on our walk last night in Broomfield. It was surely a dramatic cloud.

Great image. I like how you included the trees for scale. I did take a few images. I concentrated more on the closeups.

Sweet shot...I took a similar picture down here in Colorado Springs of a huge cumulonimbus forming on the eastern plains...love 'em!
