Taken today in thick woodland, South Devon

1DS11 500 + tubes ISO200 1/20 at f8 Fill Flash -3 Tripod and Wimberley. Flower staked to stop (or try to stop) it blowing in the breeze.

For those interested this site

is a good guide on finding orchids in Devon and Cornwall.

David Fenwick who is responsible for the aphotoflora site is a legend. Nice butterfly orchid John, I have missed loads of them this year in favour of landscapes, but were in peak season right now for those who are interested. Was the leaning intentional or was the plant like that?

Hi David

Leaning was intentional, I tried just about every option there was. Most of the plants in the open had just started to go over but in the woods, there was one that was still to open. Lots of the common spotted around. Will have to try Berry Head in the next few days to see if there are any bee orchids out yet.

That aphotoflora site is amazing a lot of hard work has gone into it, very useful as it ties dates and locations in together.
