Another rose in bloom
We have another rose that is begining to bloom. I don't seem to be getting what I want in some of my flower shots I am not sure if it is the equipment or me (probably me)it seems to me that I like the results I get with the 70-300 lens better than the 40-150 or the 14-42. I will keep trying and see how it works. 70-300mm at 340mm eq 1/50 f13 ISO 100 spot metering set.

I like this against the dark background. And the water droplets are striking. Beautiful image, Kendall. I think I might crop some of the left side to pull the main bloom out of dead center.

What are the differences you are seeing with the various lenses? Maybe the forum participants can offer some suggestions.

I agree with Chuck regarding the crop. Good exposure on this rose and the water is a nice addition.

Is it perhaps a depth of field problem that you are experiencing or something totally different?

I think at least to my eye that the longer lens looks sharper in the original than the other two. I also like the way it focuses I have been thinking about the 1.4 TC to see how it works. Here is the cropped view I wasn't sure how much so I tried to give about the same on the side as I had on top.

I think this is a much stronger image with this crop, Kendall. Well done.

Not sure why one lens would focus better than the others. The longer lens will give you a softer background, which really works well for this type of image.

Very nice shot--love the water droplets.
