Rock Pipit ?
I believe this is a Rock Pipit but I'm happy to be corrected. Taken on a local beach last saturday. There are a pair rattling around down there and on the previous two evenings were posing right in front of me and even chasing our dogs around. Of course, I didn't have a camera then. On saturday this was the only half decent shot I could get. It's a pity about the head turn as I couldnt get a catchlight.

Looks like one to me. They seem to be quite approachable birds and great fun to watch. This is a nicely composed picture but it's a shame as you say that it's head wasn't turned a little more to catch the light.

Hi Robert,

Lovely shot, the background and rock colours complement the subject very nicely. As you say, a bit more lighting in the face would have improved it, but it's still definitely a keeper.

Cheers,

Dan
