I recently happened across an image search technology that might pique the interest of some here who market their photos online. I've written a brief review on TinEye that allows users to find where their images are used online even if cropped or photoshopp'd. The search engine is in private beta but I have 50 invites to give out to those that might be interested. Just so I keep things straight I'm asking those that are interested to leave a comment on my blog post of my mini-review of TinEye.
Just to keep things on the level I am not affiliated at all with this company I just think the technology is highly useful to those looking to keep track of inappropriate use of their photos.
Hi Jim
I just tried their service yesterday after getting the go ahead from them. Pretty cool tool they have there, even if they are in beta mode.

I've got an account already, and it's pretty interesting. Just finding the same image used elsewhere is neat, but I wonder what other kinds of uses it could have. I'm also wondering if it could expanded to find similar images as well - not just the identical image.
I tried it the other day. It found a copy of one of my images, but it missed others that I had already found using Google images, Live image search and picsearch so as they say the number of indexed images is relatively small. On a positive note it didn't find any false matches so I didn't have to sift through pages of results as I did using the standard image searches.
It claims to be able to find altered versions of your images which could be useful. One of my images has been uploaded left-right reversed. When I used that as the query image it didn't find any matches, I'm sure that can be fixed for the final version.
For those that haven't yet I apologize that my link is not working at the moment. Web host is working on the problem. You can still read the entry by visiting my blogs main page http://jmg-galleries.com/blog
