I have been quiet for quite a while now... So after loosing my E300 last year, I got my new camera, the Olympus E510, with their 2 bulky flagship lenses (12-60mm and 50-200mm). I shoot raw, and the output is not quite clean, but with some sharpening for post-processing and minor adjustments I find my pictures come out very nicely. I go a little on the saturated contrasty side, which I find is a modern choice for photos. I'm in the process of getting filters, B+W MRC is my choice. I really like what the camera does, and the IS works quite well for me. It's only downfall is the 4/3rd CCD limitations which are counterparts of advantages I get for my sport photography hobbies.
About the photo
The east side of the sierras is quite magical when the weather kicks in. We were there 2 week-ends ago, made it before 120 closed, and back just when it reopened. Meanwhile we saw miced weather there with a day of rain. That also means over there having the clouds fighting to cross the sierra range, eventually spilling over.
in this photo I wanted to capture the clouds over the mountain but decided to also add a foreground to give a context, and I think it worked pretty well, giving some depth and perspective as to what was going on back there. I had to hunt around for a pleasing foreground... This was taken in the morning from our campground (Horton), which sits on top of the plateau above I395.
Tech data:
The photo is 40mm equiv 35mm camera.
1/1000 sec at f4.0, ISO 100, focal 19 mm
Olympus E510 with 14.0-42.0 mm f/3.5-5.6
that is the kit lens, which for a cheapo lens works very well.
Beautiful view in this Dan. Really love that strip of clouds across the center, then the peaks popping out into the sky, and I like the foreground. Must've been incredible to watch those clouds move across that view.

From the looks of it, that must have been quite a serious weather system.
