I am just curious to see which type of camera is the most popular in the NPN community.

Here's a link to a poll that I created.

Thanks for voting.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the Canon 5D!

Well I'd say DSLR is the most popular type of camera, as for brands I'd say Canon or Nikon. If we are talking model then I've not got a clue; Canon 40D 1D and 1Ds series or Nikon D200/300 or D2/3 series!

What am I shooting? That makes a big difference. Extreme closeups or frame speed, for digital, the 20D. Image quality, digital, 5D. Film (slide (really!!), print or infrared), generally the EOS 3, but the Elan 7 also gets pulled out. For personal work where I have time to compose, Shen Hao 4x5.

Plus the occasional other borrowed body as a test/toy.

I shoot primarily 4x5 and much less medium format. At some point I will obtain a DSLR for situations that do not readily lend themselves to LF or MF.

As Dan points out, there are folks who shoot a combination of larger film formats and digital. Large format is making something of a resurgence, while medium format is used less and less as images from high-end DSLR's approach or exceed the quality of MF. I cannot afford a high-end DSLR, so I'll likely continue to use my 645 when needed.

Yeah, I already realized that people use more than one type of camera. Just for fun, I was curious to see which type is most popular. So far, it looks like Nikon and Canon are split 50/50--which is somewhat interesting.

Benjamin, I use a Nikon D80 with a 35mm and 50mm prime lenses. Keep in mind that the Nikon D80 is only one member of a very large family. The D80 and D200 are almost twins! Same for the Canon family.

I have a Shen Hao 4x5 as well which I rarely use. I might sell it.

I saw a poll not long ago on another nature photography website. It showed that about 2/3 used Canon and about 1/4 used Nikon. The results of your poll, so far, show these two brands much closer. Interesting.
