I was heading back from shooting a sunrise this morning and noticed a purple flower along side the path. The wind was blowing too hard to get a photo of the flower but I just happened to look up the hill and to see a patch of brown that didn't quite fit with the leaves and trees. I slowly pulled my pack off hoping that I wouldn't spook the little guy that was pearing out between the leaves at me. Sure enough he was doing just exactly what his mommy had told him, and that was to stay perfectly still when faced with the unknown. I quietly pulled my camera out of my pack and slowly clicked off a few shots. It was a good day to be in the woods.

Pretty neat shot Rod. Thanks for sharing. I almost stepped on one of these little guys last weekend. He just couldn't stand it any more. I didn't get a shot.

Great shot Rod. The focus on the head of the fawn is spot on and the depth of color in the leaves and the coat of the fawn give good contrast. Nice catch light in the right eye.

Sounds like a great encounter Rod. Nice that you were able to get a shot of this youngster in its environment. Great eye to spot it.

Guess it's time to start keeping an eye out for Bambi now...interesting how one of his ears is turned behind him and the other toward the front. Beautiful shot, Rod.
