Triangle Lake Bog Blooms
I went out to Triangle Lake Bog this morning. The pitcher plants are in full bloom and there are lots of flowers around. I think things are at peak right now -- there are some blooms still opening, but also some that are on the way out. If you want to shoot these flowers, this is probably the week to do it.

The flies and mosquitos are very thick as you would expect. I'd suggest long pants, LS shirt and bug spray. Best time to shoot is early morning, before the sun gets too high. Gate is usually open by 7. Haven't tried to shoot in the evening, but seems like it would be OK as well. More details and directions here.

D300, Sigma 180 macro, 1/125 sec @ f/4, tripod, polarizer

Chuck, nice capture of an interesting looking species/flower. Thanks for posting. Where's Triangle Lake Bog? Is it in CVNP?

Hi Scott. It's south of Ravenna, a couple of miles north of I-76 off Hwy 44. Easy drive from Youngstown. Info here.

Really nice, Chuck. I particularly like the fact that the flowers are juxtaposed in terms of the direction they're facing.

Nice shot. I’ve never seen this flower before. It might be even better if the background was a little more blurred.
