Steamboat Wildflowers Today
Looks like it could be a banner year for the wildflowers---at least here in the mountains where it seems like summer is making only a sporadic appearance. This was the scene this morning with the local landmark "Sleeping Giant" in the background.

Beautiful! Maybe you should do a book on the area.

That's really nice to see, Rod. I love all that green real estate and the shadows on the mountain make it even more interesting. Haven't seen anything like these flowers anywhere else so far.

That is a very nice photo.
I wonder what the elevation was there, and whether the flowers came early this year.
Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful bouquet of wildflowers, haven't seen anything close to that around these parts, yet.

Really nice, Rod. That's some splash of color!

Can't wait! I'm in D.C. It's 90+ degrees with 90+% humidity. This view is much more to my liking!
Very nice Rod!

Great stuff Rod. We certainly aren't seeing this greenery around the Colorado Springs, especially out east, but hopefully it will get better soon. Can't wait for wildflowers in the high country.

Lovely shot, and the perspective flatters both mountain and flowers nicely!

Wow! That is a sweet shot, Rod. I think you could sharpen it slightly more for web.

Thanks all for your comments. Elevation for these flowers is approximately 7,000 ft. I looked at some pictures made last year near the same place and it seems pretty much on schedule. I was disappointed in how the picture looked on the forum compared to what I'm seeing on my screen, both in terms of saturation and contrast and sharpness---so here's another try...

your second attempt looks a little better, great shot, I wish I could find wild flowers, everywheres I've been going there haven't been any yet

I also like the reworked shot better. Thanks again for the info.

Beautiful shot! I have to agree, the reworked shot is much better.

Rene---thanks...yes indeed there's probably another book several years down the road on the Yampa Valley, but first there might be one on Western Colorado.

Very nice shot Rd.

Seems a bit strange, to look at this and then see snow falling outside my window right now. But I digress ...

Look forward to seeing more spring/summer stuff from your part of the state!

Nice shadows on the mountain. Looks like paradise.
