I would like to install a slideshow on my website... that way when you click a link the slide show starts up in a new window.

Any ideas of how to achieve this?

In my experience, automatic slideshows aren't particularly desirable, as compared to a simple gallery. There's just something about being able to choose which images you look at and for how long, rather than being force-fed...

In any case, there are numerous options out there, of which I'd recommend going with a Flash-based one. AutoViewer is a pretty simple and slick slideshow, with a few options for customization. Through Photoshop CS3 (and perhaps some earlier versions) the File->Automate->Web Photo Gallery option outputs some gallerys that allow for a slide-show function (I know for sure that Flash - Gallery 2 does). There are a whole bunch more options out there by googling "flash slideshow" or some such variation. Just boils down to what precisely you're looking for...

I agree with Kenn. We have an automatic slideshow on our home page, but once you enter the site and choose a photo category, there are no auto slideshows (but some categories have optional slideshows). The customer should have the option to view your work at his/her leisure.

If you've got some experience with html or flash I'd recommend SlideShowPro. I'm using it and have been very happy with the quality and load times on various platforms. I decided to get the SlideShowPro Director as well; the director lets you manipulate your shows on the fly without having to rebuild the whole gallery.
