The wife and I took a spur-of-the-moment trip to Buena Vista this past weekend. Nothing planned, just grabbed a change of clothes and photo gear then took off. Had a great time and plan on going back when we can spend more time in the area.
These photos are of Chalk Creek I took Sunday morning. I failed to grab my 2-stop ND filter before going down to the creek and was too lazy to go back and get it. I should have though, because I left my original position and went down stream to get a better view. My wife staying by the vehicle, could see me at my original position. She turned her head for a few seconds and when she looked back, I was missing; she thought I had fallen into the creek. The Creek was running high, fast, and furious; she was momentarily horrified. She slowly calmed down and told herself that I wasn't going to do anything stupid . Boy, was she relieved when I did show up at the vehicle.
I walked that same shoreline last Wednesday and didn't get anything as good as your images. Nice stuff! That is a pretty impressive flow along those falls right now, isn't it? Makes you really pay attention to where you're stepping.
Nice collection of fast flowing creek shots, the snow sure is melting fast now!. Maybe my monitor, but a couple of the images look like they have lost some detail in areas of the water.
Thanks everyone for the comments, I really appreciate them. I must say I was surprised at the amount and flow of water. Nothing like that in Cheyenne Creek or Bear Creek.
Don, no WAY would I kayake that eihter!
Nick, I don't think there's anything wrong with your moniter, I believe the images you're refering to are that way due to the exposure and the PP.
Dave, you are correct in that a polarizer will result in an under-exposure of roughly 2-3 stops. The polarizer I had wasn't worth the price of a three dollar bill. It was a freeby that I acquired some time ago and have since lost. Why I haven't replaced it is beyond me.
Todd, I just got lucky with the images and yes, paying attention to where I was stepping was paramount.
