A common but lovely bird.
Possibly my favourite image from my day out last Friday. I managed quite a few shots of some pied wagtails. This one was perched on a rock which ws on a raised bank next to a mountain steam at about the same level as my eyeline. The distant mountainside was about 200 yards away hence the really smooth background. Have other images of it with head up etc but for me this one grooming was my personal choice.

I can see why its a favourite Robert!!

Super shot, and although this comp works well, i suspect it would also suit a square crop.

Excellent waggy image :toast: :toast:

Lovely image with excellent detail! I agree with Alan that a square crop would suit this picture very well.

Nice shot but for me a bit too much space on the right hand side

A lovely shot and I like the pose - to me it's more interesting than the coventional 'perfect perch' posture. Having said that, I find the pale, out of focus rock on the right distracting. It may be worth darking slightly or try a portrait crop.

The bird is great , and I agree the big rock in the FG is distracting. A square or upright job would help.

An excellent shot, but the Oof rock lets it down for me. Losing some space on the right to reduce it and then darkening it a little would make a world of difference IMO.

I agree on the foreground rock being a bit too distracting, a square crop would reduce the impact of it considerably.

Cheers,

Dan.

Hi Robert,

The oof rock dominates too heavily for me I'm afraid. However, the bg and sharpness are spot on - just a quick tweak in composition next time round!

Hi Robert,

Stunning image! I do agree with the other comments, with regards to the foreground! A square crop would work very well IMHO! I never used to like square crops now I have to stop myself doing it with every image!

I quite like the comp as is,The background is spot on and the bird is doing something. The foreground rock is a shame
