I am going on a family vacation in July, driving down along the Oregon coast and northern California. We live up in Sammamish in the Seattle area.
This is a family trip of course, but I will try to squeeze in some early morning and late afternoon/evening shooting along the way.
Since many of you are intimately familiar with the Oregon coast, and I have only been there a few times, could you please recommend a few places for dramatic ocean/coastal landscape photography? I am somewhat familiar with Cannon Beach and I've been to Bandon Beach once, but I know there is so much more. I've heard of Seal Rock and Sunset Bay for instance; any recommendations?
From North to South, these are Oregon's rockiest and most rugged beaches, most of which have nice seastacks. Look at topo maps before you go.
Ecola State Park
Arch Cape
Cape Mears
Oceanside Beaches
Cape Kiwanda
Roads End Beach - North
Fogarty State Park and Boiler Bay Headlands
Seal Rocks
Cape Perpetua
Sunset Bay State Park
Cape Arrago
Bandon Beach
Pistol River State Park
Samuel H Boardman State Parks
Harris Beach
I just got back from a 2 week family trip in which we drove the entire coast of Oregon.
I would have to say my favorite part was the southern coast from Bandon to Brookings with Samuel Boardman SP being the highlight of the trip - best seastacks IMO. If you can spend a little more time along this section of coast you will 'Not' be disappointed.
My second favorite area was near Yachats with Cape Perpetua and Haceta Head Lighthouse close by.

Ecola SP is a must see as well. Here are the photos from our trip which I just finished processing if you would like to see some recent images:
