Hi Lewis,

Looks like a fabulous sunset! Silhouetting the Owl works great! Lovely composition!

What a cracker of a comp Lewis - lovely shot :toast:

Two things by way of crit (who's just been reading MS's post!??) Lewis - it's a tad soft and that top grass head would have to go for me.

A pass or two of USM at 30, 0.3, 0 would just sharpen the image nicely - but it's a really nice image, well done :wavey: :wavey:

Lovely silhouette, nice composition.nice colours. For me there is too much black at the bottom of the picture. I would crop it a bit. Best wishes.

I like this a lot, although I agree with Frederic that there is a bit too much black at the bottom, and a crop would improve things.

Cheers,

Dan.

Hi Lewis,
Definitely a good one, I'm quite happy with the black bit I would remove a thin slice off the top taking away the white cloud. Nice one

i do like the comp very much, but i tend to agree with others, that the bottom is just too featureless and dark, also like Andy says it's a bit soft

Hello Lewis,
when I press F11 I can see the picture complete on my monitor. And I like it a lot.
Very good job.
Greetings,
Bertl

I'd like to see a repost with less JPEG compression, then the blockiness in the sky and the JPEG artifacts around the bird should disappear. The image is only 45Kb and I think you can upload upto 200Kb. I have a suspicion that the lack of sharpness that others have reported is related to the compression, solve that problem and the finer details might return.

Nice image, but I agree about cropping some of the dark area form the bottom.

Very atmospheric image-i would like to see it cropped to landscape to remove most of the black at the bottom

Hi Lewis,

I agree re cropping, sharpness and compression. Other than those it's a greta shot of a great bird.

I don't want to repeat the nits that have already been covered, so I will just say that I think it is an excellent picture. I am sure you have a good enough original to rectify the nits and make it into a real beauty. It's certainly an eye-catching shot.

A very nice "mood shot". I think a bit off the bottom would help.
