Redshank on Guard (with repost)
1D2n, 600mm f4 is x1.4 TC, 1/640s, f7.1, iso 200. First light of day.

Taken on North Uist amidst a fantastic display of natural yellow irises, where I suspect they nest judging by the noise they made.I got some shots when calling, but I liked the the way this one seemed to be the guardian of the flock.

Looks like the light was a bit harsh on this one Ian. Would have been tempted to drop the exposure to around 16? :wavey:

I really like this shot Ian the composition pose and BG are spot on. My one nit pick is the out of focus rock on the left could perhaps be toned down a bit as I find its taking my eye away from the bird

Other than that a fine shot.

Yes - I like the components of this picture which I reckon could be improved by taking the gamma down a little to give it a bit more ooph !

Thanks for the comments folks - very helpful indeed. Haven't tried the exposure/gamma control in PS, so here's an attempt. Hope it's better.

Lovely shot, inspires me to get out on the moors again. I like the repost better.

Ian - I really like the composition of this shot, and I too prefer the repost. The background of the lower half of the bird really sets off the colours well. I spent some time after these on the Wash back in March, but most of the birds were up to their eyeballs in mud most of the time!
