Hi everyone,

I'll be in CO for the early wildflower season July 12-19 and will be heading to American and Yankess Boy Basins. Last year I went to American and really wished I had an ATV rather than my Jeep. Way too bumpy! Anyone know of a good ATV rental company in that area? i've checked out a couple places in Silverton, but they seem pretty expensive for a full-day rental. I'm looking for a rental for maybe 24-48 hours. Suggestions?

Thanks!

There are some jeep rental places in Ouray. You might compare their prices. I don't have any idea what a jeep rental goes for though.

Amy,

I missed it in your previous post, but I personally would recommend a Jeep over an ATV because of the bumpiness. The ATV will usually ride much rougher, I've been around both. With your jeep it helps a ton, for many reasons to lower the air pressure to 15psi or so while you're driving off-road. There are air compressors at the gas stations to fill back up but you won't do too much damage to the tires if you've got to drive an hour stretch at low pressure.

Also, I've seen Avis or one of those rental companies carries wranglers. In markets like Hawaii I've seen them at $70 per day. I have no idea what they'd go for in Colorado as I have my own wrangler.

Amy, I own a 2-door Jeep Wrangler and have some off road experience. I would not lower tire pressure except in sand. On other terrain you will need the sidewall support and tread grip. Be sure you have good tires
