Sunning

I like Toni's sunning post so I thought I'd provide another. This great blue heron held this pose for about a half hour with short breaks to stretch - shown in the reply below.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has seen this GBH behavior.

Interesting poses...I've never been able to get close enough to one to watch their behavior for any length of time. Cool stuff.

I've never seen a GBH do this, but like Joel, have never been close enough to watch their behavior. Nice catch, Ken....I especially like the way the bird is holding his wings in the first image.

Nice shots. I've watched them in the rookery for hours at a time but I’ve never seen anything like this.
