wild Orchid & Damsel + REPOST
It's so good to hold that macro lens after quite some time. First thing I saw today was this Damsel hanging on a Heath Spotted-Orchid.
A very nice combination

Looks good Edwin, but the orchid looks a tiny bit too bright/burnt out on my screen.

I like this Edwin. I like the way you have a lot of the flower in and the insect just adds to the interest. You wonder what is the pic?- flower or insect
However !!!!! Try dropping the gamma to about 0.70.
I love beefy images . Try it and see what you think. I personally go for darker pics.
( Idon't mess with levels, histograms, etc, etc. Just drop the the old gamma bits !!)
Cheers

It's lovely Edwin and I do think that toning down the flower has helped. It is an attractive plant and it was a shame not to see the colour in the petals so clearly.

Well Ed the first post looks the best of the three to me - I can't see one area of popped white, infact I can't see one area of 255,255,255 anywhere except on the odd petal edge - so go figure

It's a very nice shot matey :toast:

As John alludes to, the orchid is a bit dominant, but it's a nice change from the 'in your face' macro shots.

Nice one matey :wavey: :wavey:

Thanks guys....

Interesting to read that everyone has his own personal taste. For me the second works best but the first is imho not too bright. It still works for me.

Thanks guys

Hi Edwin

Not sure how I came to pass this by. I really like this and I have to say, the first one does it for em.

It's certainly not too bright and having had a quick download and check, I can't find any blown highlights.

As you say, each to their own and either way, it's a lovely photograph

Your 2 re-post IMO are to dark, i much prefer the original.

The damsel is such a cool adition to an already very nice orchid image :toast:

Yep the first one is by far the best.

This is gorgeous - the orchid looks to be in good nick, and the placement of the visitor couldn't be much better even if you tried - all topped off by a perfect background. A great combo of elements.
