Taken whilst out on Sunday with my panasonic FZ-18.
Also would I be able to get better results with a proper Micro lens ? I was thinking of a 105mm 2.8 Nikkor.

As usual any comments/help/pointers are help most welcome.

With the heavy antihumeral stripes and the black head stripe I'd say you were bang on id-wise Ian.

Personally I'd like the shot a bit more side-on, but that's just me. Nice record shot to have on file though Ian :wavey: :wavey:

you did well to get so much of this pair in focus at that angle Ian. It's a nice shot, a touch of noise reduction would help the background.

Image quality with a DSLR and macro lens will obviously be superior, particularly in high res images, but one advantage the bridge cameras have over DLSRs is their greater DOF (because of the smaller sensor). You would have needed to have stopped down well beyond f8 to get so much in focus if this were taken with a DSLR.

An interesting image, Ian. I think I would have preferred more of a profile shot, taken from the right side if possible, but the heads on view is special too. I like the green/blue colour combination here. :wavey:

I agree that a side on view would be preferable but this does work as well-the background is abit grainy

Because of the DoF limitations of slr macro photography, every shot is taken with the beastie parallel to the sensor. Well I like to see them like this, such a nice change of view.
I used to use an Olympus 8080 bridge camera for butterfly shots and it was far less limiting than my slr, but the noise was horrendous. l like the shot a lot, but I see you have the same problems that I did.

Looking at the pose I wonder if a side on view but rotated 90 degrees would show them in a heart shape?!
