Male Blue-tailed Damsel of the form violacea -(definitely 'punting' for a job at PhilH's gaff   )

Had rain and drizzle on and off today but managed a few damzy shots although it was dragons I was after, but could I find one?? :frown:

Bit too breezy so I was stuggling a bit with shutter speed.

D2Xs
180mm macro
ISO100
1/10thsec @ f10
1548 + 488RC4 + MC36 + Plamp

PP CapNX and CS3

Thanks for looking as ever folks :toast: :toast:

Very nice shot Andy love the water droplets on the body. I also love the background.

the background and composition are lovely Andy and the water droplets are very nice. A touch more DOF would have helped get all parts of the 'perch' in focus, some bits look slightly OOF to my eyes. But a lovely image.

I've recently invested in a plamp and wish I'd done it years ago

Thanks Matt :wavey: :wavey:

You are spot-on over the DoF - but if I'd gone to f11 the shutter speed would have been down at 1/5thsec - with the swirly air currents and the damzy constantly wiping its eyes and setting the grass stem in motion I wouldn't have got the shot - there's 28 frames of this shot and only 3 are free of motion blur as it is.

I'd rather trade off perfect settings and get a half-way OK shot - BUT, you are absolutely right

You've got the job

I do like this, perfect bg and those individual water droplets really make the shot for me, perfectly composed too, the DoF doesn't bother me. :toast: :toast:

Excellent image Andy. BG and droplets set it off a treat. The hairs on the back are picked out really well too.

We will have to wait and see about the job Andy, but I don't think Steve Brookes is giving up any time soon

Hi Andy. I really like this. The colour and clarity is beautiful. I love the detail on the grass heads, makes you realise they are not all just green or brown. The water droplet really add a nice sparkle. In my view, a perfect damzy shot. :toast:
