Above & Beyond
This was taken a couple weekends ago not far from home. I had not gotten around to really looking at all the shots I had taken. I have reservations with this for some reason.
I've been just bustin' to get out and shoot some of this weather but really haven't got a chance to the last couple of weeks. I almost went out just tonight after I got home from work at like 11pm to try to shoot some of the wild lightning going on. But a little voice in my head said, "do you really want to stand outside with an aluminum tripod in a lightning storm?" Well Yeah! But I didn't. OK call me chicken.

Hi Brad a beautiful sky, nice color and light on them. The silhouette of the trees works well also. I think Kansas has great potential for lightning shots because you can see it from so far away. I would just shoot with a long lense as storm is approaching or has already moved over you. You can also shoot from your vehicle this would cut down on the danger of being struck. Just one way I would approach it not and expert on lightning shots though.

I thought that was one of the reasons they made carbon fiber tripods .... so we could stand out in the lightning and take pictures! Some nice colors and details in the sky here Brad. The silhouettes set them off nicely.

I took a few shots of the interesting cloud formations during the storms in KC last night but they are not compostionally strong, just wanted to record some of the interesting shapes & colors. One of the few confirmed tornados touched down about 800 yards from my house last night.
