I had a visit to a Large Blue site that is quite close to home on Thursday, and found a few flying. The reintroduction really has been a great success, and well done the National Trust!!! There were a crew on site from the Bristol BBC wildlife, filming for the nature slot on The One Show, and it will go out on the August bank holiday week end.
What a fantastic sight to see and it's so good to see and hear of some butterfly successes. The life cycle is so bizarre it's almost if nature doesn't want it to survive (much like the Panda)
It's great to hear about a wildlife success during the usual doom and gloom reports that I read every day This is a nice shot, but the busy background is a bit of a distraction.
Good success story and a good picture too. The light stem going away to the back and the white dot below the butterfly grabs my eye a bit but only small nits.

Hi Stewart,
I thought I recognised this one! Very nice indeed, you seem to be a dab hand at the butterfies!
Thanks guys, for all your kind words, and I have had a little play in PS,and made a few adjustments, but had to stop as I had an appointment with a Barn Owl that has just been brought to my attention about 3 minutes from home,so hoping for a few good shots in the coming weeks..

It is always a problem getting a clean enough shot of the top surface of these kind of butterflies because you are always shooting down on to them and the ground is never far enough away to give a smooth bg. It's great to see a picture of one of these and such a good one as well. Eric

I think it is a fine record shot of a great rarity. The background is too cluttered for me emphasised by strong sun light. But what the hell can I say... I have never even seen one! 2nd Eric's comments
