Sedge in sedge (well-reed)
Sedge warbler
Suppose you could call this an enviro shot. They never sit out in the open for me !
D200
Sigma 100-300mm
About 70% of the original frame

Hi John,
I like the orange green colors and the sharp unsharp play in this shot.
And the perfect placement of the bird too.
Bird photography as art.
cheers,

Hi John,

I like this a lot, the background/foreground is very abstract, without being too distracting. :toast:

Cheers,

Dan.

Hiya John,

love the environment in this image. The out of focus foreground lends an air of intimacy to the shot. Composition is great as well, although I might be tempted to try cropping just a little more off the LH side. Just my preference

It's a nice image John , really like the setting and the comp , it does look to have a green cast to it on my monitor though that could be the reflected light from the surrounding vegetation.

Andy...

Thanks all.
Wouldn't it be good if I could say I planned the shot !!?
It does look a bit green but as you say Andrew there's a lot of green in the shot
Just the way it works sometimes.
Cheers

Gloriously colourful shot John {almost tropical},

I like your chosen framing/comp, and a super image to boot :toast: :toast:

Super shot John, love the way the blurred foreground gives the picture depth and the blue background carries that depth further.. :toast:

I think this is fantastic John. Quite different to the usual shot. It has a very painterly feel to it.

Good enviro, John. Maybe just a bit too yellow for me!

Thanks again.
Its interesting how people's comments make you look at your own pictures differently. Also shows peoples differing perceptions of colour. For some its green others its yellow. Could be greenish yellow I suppose.
As I have mentioned before,I was told I was colour blind in the army so maybe I can't tell the difference.

Different for you John. Like this enviro shot. :toast:
If it wasnt for the enclusion of those seedy heads I dont think it would be quite the same image.

Major.

Lovely image John I love the colours and the blurred and out of focus areas just serve to frame the bird. It would make a nice large wall print

Very very nice John, i like the OOF vegitation and the colours are so nice too. I like the "shot through the grass feel.

Major is right, not what I expected from you, but like it a lot - the colours are as they were when taken so for me that's not a problem, and the comp works well too.

Beautiful image John, I love the setting, lovely gentle colours. Perfect reminder of the pleasures of birding at this time of the year.

That's a really nice shot. The fact that it is only sharp where it matters really makes the bird show up well despite all that environmental clutter.
