Blue -tailed Damselflies in the wheel
Sigma SD14, Sigma 180mm mono pod mounted.
F16, 1/160s, ISO 400.
Comments and critique welcome.
Spent a couple of hours down at the local lake this morning and there where tons of Blue-tailed Damsels about.
Cheers

Hi Steve,

Nice shot. I think the colours could do with a little more saturation and a little more USM. I like the composition. Have you managed any images of the Peregrine's??

Regards

Hi Rob
I'll work on the saturation and USM. As for the Peregrine's the answer is no I can't get close enough every time I've been down to Trimley they have been in the Oak tree in the middle of the wet meadow but well out of camera range. A work in progress I think.

Hi Steve,

I meant the pair at the Orwell bridge!, fledged 3 young in the past two weeks adults and youngsters still in the area, the box can be viewed from pipers vale (orwell country park) or as they are flying now good views from either wherstead parking bay or the dock side in ipswich (opposite haven marina sign)

Regards

I think the saturation is fine, it just a little on the bright side. Drop it by 1/3rd and it will appear more colourful. More importantly, IMO, the colours are just too warm/yellow. Easily rectified with the white balance. The image is a little contrasty. If you shoot these in daylight, it is worth considering fill-in flash to soften the shadows.

It's all a bit bright for me, but easily rectified to make a fine image I would have thought.
