Hi all
After many, many hours of trying I finally managed to get two Norfolk icons in one shot. Really quite pleased with this as it's pretty much the image I had in my head.
The swallowtail itself was incredibly tame and actually allowed a fellow photographer to gently move it from perch to perch - unbelievable!

Superb !!
If only the windmill was a bit to the left or right of the marsh thistle head.. To me that would have clinched it.
Great stuff though .

Very nice image Simon got to agree with John that the windmill would heve been better over to the right and I might have been tempted to clone the two stray thistle leaves out on the bottom left.
I'd like to be-able to see more of the base of the windmill so that it has a more defined shape. Perhaps a horizontal image with the side by side. Nice idea and well found. Tristan
Very nice shot Simon. I agree with what has already been said the positioning of the windmill, but it's a relatively minor nit.
Cheers,
Dan.

Hi all
Compositionally I covered all bases during this photo opertunity with the windmill placed left and right of centre in both portrait and landscape formats. This one won my vote though as it showed the swallowtail off best (and he's the star of the show I think - the mill a close second!).
What an excellent shot Simon. Every butterfly shot we see is a macro and tells us nothing about their location or behaviour. I have to say that the windmill would be better offset so that it doesn't line up with the thistle, but it's still a great shot. Eric
