I took this the other night as the sun was just setting......
its a little dark and a little cool but I am keeping it that way because I feel it is more natural then if I were to warm it up.......
would be curious to know how you feel about this....its a place right near my house and I can shoot it anytime.....
anything you like, dislike or suggest I do different....
mind you I am on the edge of a rock cliff and one step to my left puts me in the river!
Camera: Nikon D300
Exposure: 1.6 sec (8/5)
Aperture: f/18
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 100

I like it. The foreground flowers really work for me in your composition.

I like the contrast beween the grey sky and green water. I like it cooler.

I think it's a well composed shot with some beautifully colored water. The foreground rock and flowers looks very nice. The tree line kind of funnels you into the background which is nice but the sky doesn't do anything for me. The water and rock/flowers are the strong elements here. What about a crop to just above the midground rocks in the river?
I like, but it seems tilted a bit with need of a CCW rotation to level it. The FG is nice here....

Another very nice image Darren. You are really showing what f8 and be there can produce. Great eye for this composition also. The flowers on the static rock next to the rushing water really kick things up a notch here.
You have really made a good agrument for the Nikon D300 as well which I am considering as my next camera. But did you hear about the recent Nikon leak for a D700 which would be a FF equivalent to the 5D. It looks pretty nice if it is the real thing.

Derek, the other night I went back and was going to re work some of the images from my D70 and after taking a look at the quality of the master images, I decided against it......the D300 just blows the D70 out of the water for image quality......
I have seen some full size images from the D3 and I have to say that if you were to put down an 11x14 or 12x18 side by side from each camera...you could not tell the difference in print quality.....I do not need low light capabilities so for now, I am very very very very happy with my D300.....
I am however open to options as they come along......and I would love to have a full frame some day when they include the same sensor cleaning system as my D300...the D3 has no sensor cleaning system...go figured....
