Hi all,

I have to go to San Diego on a last minute business trip this coming week and was wondering if anyone could point me to some nice photo spots. I am going to be staying near the convention center and was wondering if there were any interesting beaches around or if I should just get a car and drive around town.

Thanks a million

Younes.

Younes, if you are looking for any natural settings to photograph, I'm sure it will take renting a car and driving around a bit. As with a lot of So Cal beaches they seem to have areas not easily accesible for a variety of reasons, including private property areas. I have seen some very impressive shots from Torrey Pines posted at times here on NPN, but again, I'm not too sure about access rights even there. Hopefully you will hear from some local S.D. shooters who will have some better information overall. Good luck with your trip.

Younes, you will need to rent a car and drive around. There are SO MANY places here for shooting. If you are staying near the convention center, you are about a 10 minute drive away from the beach [to the west] as well as Hotel del Coronado. There is a "Scenic Drive" that I like to take which will provide many places to shoot. La Jolla is another place [Children's Pool & Mount Soledad (weather permitting [fog/haze])]. To the East, there is Mount Helix. To the North, there is the Palomar Observatory. Personally, I haven't been there yet. I have lived here 20 years and still haven't seen everything. Hope I helped you some. Welcome and hope you enjoy your stay. :wavey:

Thanks , I really appreciate your help. I was hoping I could avoid a car rental...but then again I don't get to go to SD everyday :).

Drop Jimmy Gekas a line. He is a San Diego local, is a member here and shoots a lot of landscape in the San Diego area. I am sure he can give you some great tips.

Nice images on your website!!
