So, where did everyone go Saturday evening after the thunderstorm?
I was leading a group of six other photographers and there was no way I was leaving after seeing the elements coming together late afternoon. We climbed up Janes Bald with little time to spare - expecting another half dozen or so photographers. Nope. No one. Saturday sunset from Janes Bald during the Rhodo peak (well, almost) and not another 'tog to be seen? You all are getting soft!
The best spots were given to my students, so I took what was left. The light was beyond description.
This is processed on my laptop (not calibrated) and I actually had to desaturate the raw file to be somewhat believable. Maybe I'll post another version once I dock into my calibrated Apple Cinema Display.

Oh man!! I knew I should have driven back up there!! Harold and I had been up on the parkway and as I drove past the turn off to go back up I could see the mist coming up the hills and I thought I bet it looks great up there. I wished I had come back up. Super shot Richard!!
I was at the house as the sun was setting and just knew something special was going on over at the Roan....you proved me right. Great to meet you and I look forward to many more encounters.
Beautiful image Richard! I wanted to go to Janes, but my lungs are just too far gone to hike that far. I was well pleased that I made it up Round Bald at 5 a.m. even if I was hurting for a while. I was on the cliffs off the garden trail during this sunset, and the only thing I saw was the top of the clouds. I am glad you got the shot! Well done!
Excellent shot! I was just visiting the neck of the woods you all call home--a beautiful region. I had also posted a question earlier before the trip this month, and got some helpful replies--so here's a thank you to all! And I was lucky enough to be out on the Parkway (near MP 335 or so) and caught the sunset this same night too. It was spectaular.

Awesome shot my friend.

Nice shot. Maybe someday I will trade my SUV for an economical mode of transportation so I can afford to travel to such scenic vistas.

Incredible shot, Richard. I would really love to see the other version.
What is that light streak on the ground? Lava from the active volcano nearby?
Lance, that is water on the rock. It rained most of the afternoon.
