I could swear I've seen this topic here before, but I can't find it.

My wife is looking for classes in the Denver area for matting & framing photos. We've scanned Hobby Lobby & Michaels without success.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Jim, If you're in the Denver area, Jefferson County continuing education offers a class. Don't know much about it, but noticed it the other day.

You just missed a good one a couple of weeks ago, Jay. I took a class from David Logan at
http://www.framing4yourself.com/. They held it here in Denver.
You might check their schedule as he hits various cities every year.

Jay, try the www.logangraphics.com site; Logan makes matte cutters and other matting and framing stuff; I took a 3 day class from them a couple of years ago, very good class, they may have a class scheduled close to your location.

I found that the basics aren't that hard. However, what I find "difficult" about cutting mats is remembering those basics. For example, after cutting the outside dimensions, I'll forget to place a backer piece of mat board before cutting with the 45 degree blade. Or, I'll measure incorrectly resulting in a cutout that's too large. I doubt that they can teach those things in a mat cutting class. So my recommendation when cutting mats is to just slow down and go over your checklist before cutting. Good luck.

ABC MOULDING and COLORADO FRAME Companies hold framing and matting classes a couple times a year during their open houses. There basic usually 1 or 2 days.
