I got to use my new piece of kit today, the 1D MkIII, and its superb! It only seemed right given my research area that my first shots with the camera should be of wheatears. This is a male on Fair Isle...

Canon EOS 1D MkIII
Canon 300 f/4 L IS
Sigma 1.4 EX DG
ISO 320
1/500 at f/6.3

Nice composition and complientary background Adam. You obviously haven't had any of the documented problems with that body then. I'm keeping a close eye on peoples views of that camera so that I know whether or not to get one once the Bank Robbery has been carried out!

Aha! You've very kindly indentified the bird I saw for the first time last week on Harris. They are lovely and this is a very nice image with the colours in the background being complementary.

Its a beauty Adam................shows it nicely in its habitat context, and a great little turn of the head is a nice touch!!

Nicely balanced comp, and a fine result :toast:
