Pool surprise
Hawfinch
Been up to the neck with surveys again so here's one from the collection which I've re processed.
It's the old dilemma when something special turns up. Do you wait or grab a shot.
I took one picture and then I waited and then it was gone.
I'd done them before in the garden but not at the pool.So I got just the one shot
D200
Sigma 300mm

Lucky you! A bird I'd really like to see. Very nice photo!

Quite a steep angle John {more so than usual}, although the head-up has saved the day, and a nice result of a great bird :toast:

Thanks.
Not one of my best but you take what you can get.!
This was before I lowered the hide Alan, and the bird was right at the front of the pool which didn't help.

Nice one John. It is better to have a shot than not at all. So a quick grab is always worth it.

Thanks
Rob-Exactly why I posted the pic.Do you grab or wait. If I had waited I may have got a better shot- but 'll never know. If you disturb a bird at a pool ( especiaslly a "first comer " at the distance I work at you don't often get another go. Some take it - some don't.
This was a "don't !)
Cheers

I'm very impressed that you have got a shot at all. I have only ever managed to see a rump disappearing among the trees and somebody had to point that out to me. I think I would only have been able to hold back if I had seen them regularly, A bird in the hand and all that.
