In Kansas, mid to late June is wheat harvest time. Almost without fail though, we can count on strong storms to rumble across the prairie. This photo was taken a couple hours ago. The lighting was impressive, but I couldn't catch any of the big bursts in my 8-13 sec shots. I had to give up when the lighting starting firing overhead, and rain came shortly there after. I tried to get more detail in the foreground wheat field, but wasn't able to. No hail tonight :). 30D, ISO 100, 13 sec, f/10, small crop. C&C always welcome and appreciated.
Hi Rob really a great sky. Love the colors and clouds the little flash of lightning works for me.

This is very nice Rob. Love the sweeping movement of the cloud and the color, rainshafts and lightning add nicely to this midwest classic. Very nice shot!

Love the sky, Rob - the colors are fantastic. Nicely composed, too!
Thanks for the comments. I'm leaving for southwest Kansas in just a little bit, and there are some big storms down there atm, so I may get a chance to pull over :).
Beautiful shot, Rob. I drove through some of this stuff last night, but nothing that was as nice as this. Hope you are able to get a few keepers this afternoon/tonight.
