Fresh out the oven!
We actually saw these little guys born in the backyard just before I took these photos.

Sorry they're not all that great, but we didn't get much warning.

All taken with the 70-300IS on the XT at ISO 400 or 1600.

Good stuff Mel, to be witness to a wild birth must have been quite a feeling, thanks for sharing

:toast: :toast: That's one smart mom picking the safety of suburbia to the wilds of Pike NF.

Mel,,The Cow and calf image shows how small the calf is. Looks like she just cleaned it off.
Sounds like you got a great backyard.

The words "fawn" and "adorable" just seem to go together...

Very cool!
I was on the Central California coast at Cambria Wed night and there was a small herd of deer on the bluffs. The fawns were running and playing like puppies. It was wild to see, especially as close as we were.
Nice catch!

You captured a beautiful moment in nature. Must have been incredible to see.

Great shots Mel. Two days ago on the ranch where we are building, what I think was a newborn fawn crossed the road in front of our truck. It was way down on its hocks which is what makes me think it wasn't very old. He/she wobbled along after, we assumed, its out of sight mother. I never realised they were so tiny. I had my camera but only had a WA lens with me (of course). Very nice for you to witness this in your own backyard :toast:
