Beaver Marsh Water Lily
I snuck out at lunch yesterday to shoot water lilies at the Beaver Marsh in the CVNP. The lilies are a lot closer to the boardwalk this year (this was shot through the railings). Somewhere under there is a REALLY BIG snapping turtle.

Having the turtle peeking out next to the lily would have been a huge bonus, Chuck, but I'm not complaining. Excellent shot of the Waterlily and good exposure on the whites!

Nice image and subject, and nice work with the highlights. I might prefer the flower a touch less centered, but I do like the inclusion of the small elements in the upper right...the joy of compromises.

Nice, Chuck. I see what Joel is saying about the centered subject, but I do think it works pretty well here. And I totally agree about the small leaves in the upper right--a great balancing elements providing additional interest.

A great photo of a really tough subject. When it comes to white water lilies the idea of good morning or evening light is gone. The ones up here in Minnesota open about 10:00 and close by 3:00, not allowing for much "good light". Here you have managed the midday highlights and shadows admirably. :toast:
