Well 3 weeks ago I went to Florida to visit family and take photos. I came back " in the hole". I should have stopped while I was ahead but had to keep in pursuit of the perfect picture. In doing so, I ruined my 5D when a wave came and knocked over my tripod w/ beloved camera So,.......if anyone might want a body that does not work, then let me know. ( I did send it back to Canon to see if they could repair, they sent it back unrepaired - too much to fix ).

Also have the box with all the books, cables, neckstrap etc. for it if anyone would be interested, shoot me an email.

Last but not least, I had bought a Kirk Photo L bracket for it that is less than 3 mos old and now will not use. It is in new condition without a scratch. It is the one made to use WITHOUT the battery pack. Email me if interested. BN it retails for $ 139. I need to sell it to help pay for a new L bracket for another model Canon. :wavey:

Mitch, I'm sorry to hear this! Are you planning on getting another camera as replacement?

I was going to suggest that you might want to place this notice in the classified section of the NPN forums, but see you've already done so!

Toni, your're right, I had already posted over there. The box and belongings to the camera, I'd basically give away at this point if someone wanted them. Unfortunately for me I am even worse " in the hole" now as I did order a new camera - a 1Ds III - way overkill for my needs at this point in time, no more camera envy now, we'll just have to wait and see. :wavey:

Double ouch! Hope the new camera works out for you, Mitch!

Bummer! :frown: I managed to get too excited while taking some ice shots last winter and loosened the wrong screw so when I picked up the camera it fell in the river. Fortunately Nikon was able to repair it.

This might be a good time to remind everyone to get insurance for your gear! It is available through your home owners or rental insurance policy for a reasonable price. I was glad I had it last year when I cracked the screen on the back of the camera...every penny of the $360 cost for the repair was covered!

Toni
Good point. I forgot to mention that mine was insured as well.

Sorry to hear of your camera problems. The 1dsMK3 sounds like a pretty awesome camera (I'd be tempted to buy one if I could afford it ), and I'm sure you'll really enjoy it. Regards!

Well, if you get bored...

Disassemble the 5D and photograph its innards as you go along. It is not like you'll have another opportunity to do so.

If that doesn't appeal, send me the camera and I'll do the dissection (seriously - here is my e-mail address if you don't get another taker for the body: info@danborzynskiimages.com).

I'll even take the disassembled body to photograph when you are done :jump:

I'd consider buying the bracket, but I have a battery pack for my 5D.
