Big Basin 3
One last photo from Big Basin. This one was taken a couple hours later than the first 2 and from the south rim instead of the west rim. Once again, I'm going to ask for which you prefer. I'm going to submit one of these images to a contest this week. Thanks for looking, C&C always welcome and appreciated.

It's tough to pick one over the other, but I think I like this one the most. Seems a little more balanced, and I like the higher angle shooting down on the corral.

Good luck with the contest!

My vote would be for Big Basin 2 Rob. It has a lot of cloud appeal and conveys more sense of scale (inclusion of the coral). I also like the landscape better in that shot with the distinct hill on the left breaking the horizon, shadow detail and the warm earth tones in the middle. A more complete image in my opinion.

Good luck with the contest! :wavey:

I'm with Bill I think on this one. I think the higher view gives a little more depth to the scene, but the clouds were better in the earlier one.

Good luck with your submission.

I think if you would crop this one as a pano, this would be the winner of the three. I don't like the large amount of blank sky in the URC, but I definitely like the higher view of the corral in the FG. A slight increase in saturation might really make those reds and greens pop. Good luck with the contest. Keep us posted!

Thanks for the input everybody. I finally settled on #2. I agree the higher view of the corral is better in this one, but to me the clouds are enough better in #2 to justify picking it. While not specifically stated, experience says that the contest will crop photos to a 2:3 format, so I'm sticking with that format for my submissions.
