Hello all,
This is a shot I'd hoped to make for a long time but didn't really expect to get the opportunity. The so called 'leap, pounce' attack characterises the way foxes hunt in snow and isn't as hard to predict as I'd imagined. Still, what a privilege to witness (let alone photograph).
At the time the image was made I questioned whether the tree behind the animal was too much of a distraction - the general consensus between the photographers I was with seemed to be that it wasn't. I'm still not sure, but that said, I'm not a big fan of cloning out such integral parts of a scene, so I'd live with the image that way it is.
Cheers, Chris.

Live with it as is Chris. It's a superb image in every way. The pose , the action, the condition of the fox, the background and even a good catchlight to lift the eye! Perfect image in my book and I wish it was in 'my book'.
Cracking.
Absolutely stunning, what a wonderful picture this is. Superb behaviour shot and great detail. I love the environment around the animal in this image and just puts all into perspective.
Wonderful action shot. The tree helps anchor the scene and give it some depth. Without it you'd have a small fox in a wider, empty, space and it wouldn't work quite so well IMHO. The only change I'd look at would be to see if a slight crop from the RHS works better.

A Truly wonderful shot if anything I would like to see more of the tree as I think it makes the picture but great never the less!!

Wish it was mine........ Don't worry about that tree. It looks fantastic. I would just clone out the branch behind his legs.

Saw one do this the other night but it was a cub attacking a dog biscuit.
