Kittiwake & Chick - First post
Having spent many months 'lurking' in the background of the Forum I have plucked up the courage to make my first post
This was taken on a trip to the Farne Islands last year
I should add that the nest was on the cliff next to the designated pathway and the bird was used to visitors and not disturbed at all.

Nikon D80
70-300 Vr at 125mm
RAW
Matrix
ISO 320
1/400s
F10
No crop

Welcome Stephen :wavey: :wavey:

Nice first post - well exposed, plenty of detail and tack sharp - nice depth of field too :toast:

A lovely intimate view Stephen {and welcome from me also}, and very nicely taken!

Maybe a touch more at the bottom would have been ideal, although a fine image :toast:

Welcome aboard! a very nice first post, a little close to the edge of frame at the bottom perhaps, but nice clean well-managed whites and crisply focused.

Hello Stephen
No need to have to pluck up courage.
Nice shot of quite a difficult subject. Never be affraid to have the subject smaller in the frame.
Enjoy the forum.

Welcome Stephen,

I agree a tad more at the bottom may help, but otherwise a fine image. Look forward to seeing more.

Welcome to the forum Stephen - a nice first post from the Farnes.

I'd like to have seen a bit more room at the bottom for the chick, and also the whole photo shifting to the left to decentralise the composition.

Look forward to more.

Hi Stephen
See, beats 'lurking' doesn't it!?
Alan is right about the shot needing more room at the bottom but the rest is fine - plenty of detail in the whites, bags of appeal in the subject and good timing to catch the adult's pose.
Cheers, Chris

Welcome Stephen, I know exactly how you feel making a first post given the amazing standard on here. But its a good one - whites held well, great timing for the pose and the chick adds the cute factor. Comments covered, keep 'em coming

Chris - Cheers, as you say it beats lurking

Dave - enjoy the Farnes and if you haven't been before take a hat as those Artic Terns will be out to get you!
