Too close for comfort?
D3 + 600mm AFS II + 1.4 conv.
1/160 @ f5.6.
ISO 640.
Ex Mode Aperture Priority.

Out this evening to set up my hide just to see if I can get any nearer to the "Blue hare". when up pops this dear soul.
I just didnt have time to change gear before he was just too close.

Beautiful. What an expression. Is this at the beach?!

Has anyone ever seen a caramel coloured hare before? I was out one morning shooting landscapes and I came across a pair, one being a sandy caramel colour. Is this rare? The bolted of course and I had no chance of even a grab shot.

Excellant image the only nit is the plant to the right of the head is a distraction

Very good Image. I like the plant beside the hare. It gives a little extra to the picture.

Very sweet portrait Major - hope this is a slight crop so you've got some room around it for flexibility in printing.

This is full frame Nick so big problem.
I have also got some minus the plant but left it in as I felt it gave something to the image

Bit of a bummer Major - no chance to have dumped the 1.4TC before he legged it?

Quite like the greenery for once... looks like it's about to be chomped 'should I, shouldn't I???'

Thats got to be your best hare shot yet in my opinion.
Excellent !

Considering the time constraints and proximity you pulled off a cracking shot.
The only thing I suggest is that you tone down the sharpening – is there evidence of artefacts creeping in, particularly in the eye? Alternatively, it could be that as a Canon user I’m just not used to sharp images!!

Very close, but very effective Major!!

Works perfectly for me, and i think the eye contact makes the shot :toast: :toast:

Fantastic image - the DoF and sharpness gives it a print-like quality, and as Alan says the eye contact is what makes it.

Now that really is close, I think I would have missed this opportunity just because I would be so engrossed in just witnessing the animal at close quarters.. Well done for such a great image.

Yet another outstanding image Major. It's seeing shots of this quality that make this forum so stimulating.
